`MILKA PROTIC` CLOSER TO NIS

After the call of the people living in `Milka Protic` settlement, this part of Palilula Municipal territory was visited by Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Municipal Assembly with his associates. It was the motive for the visit of this area including the meeting with local citizens and talking about the current issues of this `green oasis`.Јovica Mitrovic, representative of Citizens` Council, pointed at key problems in this settlement. `There has been nine years from the moment when the part of sewerage system was completed, but the works have not been continued. The work has not been completed, use permit has not been issued, therefore Public Enterprise `Naissus` has not taken over the role of keeping the net` – emphasized Mitrovic. The residents have taken over the part of keeping and there is no possibility for this action to go on in this way. The space of this local community building, because of simply not being maintained, is completely neglected. The rooms have leaks and recently there has been a fire on installations. There is no central heating in the elementary school. The ambulance building is also leaking. In one word, it is necessary to do small repairs on the objects and repair already made damage` - all the local citizens say in one sentence.

Milan Djurdjevic, reminded all the present that the authorities of Palilula Municipality are doing everything to improve the quality of life of Palilula citizens, actually everything that is Palilula authorized with. `The common and joint approach towards the City authorities and communal enterprises is necessary to solve certain problems in planning manner` –emphasized Djurdjevic. `In this year over 180 million RSD dinars were directed for Palilula municipality from the City of Nis budget – the resources with purpose for communal structuring in all parts of municipality. However it is necessary to have many more resources that are missing. In this settlement, at the moment, we could solve the problem of inter-resident blocks green areas, as well as we could equip the area with for the quality playing equipment for the youngest citizens. About other investments we will have common approach towards all communal enterprises and compete with the projects for gaining funds`-said Djurdjevic.

The manager of `Erste bank` in Nis, Mrs. Ljiljana Ilic was present during this meeting. She informed the present that the Bank will be, within the programme of integration with the local community, and in the cooperation with the Municipality, will equip with wooden playground equipment for children, as well as take part in other projects of `Milka Protic`.

Palilula Municipality, in its own Strategy, gives special importance to the activities on the improvement of life quality of people in settlements, both in rural and urban municipal parts. Taking into account the state on the terrain, solving the problems and meeting with the citizens, have all become practical activities in the work of the authorities of this City of Nis local community organization.
